The laser is guided over the tattoo, and with each pulse, you’ll see the ink momentarily whiten or “frost” – that’s a sign of the ink particles breaking apart. A small tattoo might take just a few minutes to treat; larger ones take longer. After treatment, the area will be a little red, swollen, and feeling like a sunburn. You’ll need to keep it clean, protected, and covered with a bandage as it heals over the next week or so. Fading of the tattoo ink will start to be noticeable after the first session once the body’s scavenger cells carry away the fragmented ink.

With each session (spaced about 6–8 weeks apart), you’ll see the tattoo progressively lighten. Black inks typically respond fastest. Colors might need an extra session or two, but even vibrant colors will significantly fade – something that was nearly impossible before PicoSure.
